Happy Birthday to Me and a stitched piece

Yes, all day today has been my birthday. I started it with a good pot of coffee and stitching on a Halloween piece. Then I opened gifts from friends, and what great friends I have. Lynn spoiled me rotten will all kinds of stitching goodies. She's a true stitching friend. Just look what came out my sack. Five charts, a pair of scissors, fabric, cards, pins, buttons, needle minder, a nifty paper cutter, and crocheted dish towel.

My sister gave me a blue bird I admired. Also, my good friend Mary Ann, no blog, fixed me up with some great tasting tea I like, some lavender soap, and body cream. And my secret sister at sorority gave me some toffee, mulling spice, tortilla soup, and other goodies.
And technically not a birthday gift, but it was in today's mail, so I'm a countin' it as a bd gift. One of the first exchanges I ever stitched was for Marie P. We share a love of Community Coffee, so she sent me a collection of the flavored blends and a swatch of coffee themed fabric.

I don't understand what is happening with this post. It's very untidy, but sometimes Blogger and I don't get along. As soon as I get a snapshot of my stitching finish I'll post it too. Have a great evening.

Here's my very first stitched Stacy Nash design. My birthday gift to myself. I love this design.

A nip in the air

Greetings. I don't have stitching to show, but did finish an exchange piece this morning. It's for the HoE Floss Tag exchange. It turned out really well. Hope my partner likes it.

My good friend Lynn has started a stitching blog. Drop on by, I'm sure she'd love to hear from you.

Well, I've searched every three-ring binder, mesh bag, tub, file drawer, hidey hole, stack, etc. that I can think of and still can't locate the chart of my last pinkeep. So, along with the missing button that goes on it...I need to get organized!! I wonder if BeckySC is available for hire?!?

Volunteering at the Humane Society this morning, but it is very slow. Guess I can do some paperwork that needs filing.

Enjoy your week.

A finish for me

Today was a lazy, rainy day, so I took the opportunity to make a pinkeep from a design I stitched several years ago. I love this design and have no idea why I never completed a finish for it. It's one from Cindy at The Stitchworks. There's a pumpkin button somewhere in my stash room. I've run across it at times I've been searching for something else. I have no doubt it will turn up at some point.

The trip to Fayetteville was a full day. I was pooped when I got home. There's a little 88 year old lady that goes on the trips and is a full burst of energy. We never know what she's going to show up as. Last trip she was an Oklahoma State supporter. This trip she was all decked out in her Halloween gear. She's a real cutie, so thought I'd share her photo. Her hat is a pumpkin in case you can't make it out. I let her know I was going to post it. She was ok with it. Our first stop was across the street from the Farmer's Market, so we all hopped over there. The produce was beautiful, and reasonably priced. The flowers were just beautiful. More about the trip in a later post.

I mailed my SBEBB Pumpkin Patch exchange this morning. Hope my partner enjoys it. It's not very original, however I have wanted to stitch it, so took the opportunity. Will post photos when my partner receives. It has a ways to go, so it'll be a couple of weeks.

Have a restful evening.

Sister's Birthday Gift

A couple of weeks ago I handed my youngest sister the JCS Halloween issue. I asked her to pick a design she wanted for her birthday and she did. Here it is. Just don't look too closely at the bow. I am so challenged in that department. I guess I should have just left it off. Too late, it's in the mail. She doesn't read my blog, so it's safe to post. Tomorrow's her bd. I kid her that she's what I got for my 6th birthday since mine is a few days later.
Tomorrow my friend Diane and I are taking another bus trip with the "old folk." Trouble is I can hardly keep up with them and I'm about 20-30 years younger than some. We're heading over to AR to see some foliage and stop at a couple of museums and a little shopping. My wake up call is going to be early, so I'm about ready to say good-bye to this day. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.

HoE Mattress Cushion from Annette

I'm late in posting the photos of the fantastic exchange I received from Annette. Her package was waiting for me when I returned from a short vacation. She did a great job on the cushion didn't she? It was her first one and in my favorite color too. She also included some great goodies too.
I have my exchange ready to mail off today. I'm just making the mailing deadline.
It's a dark, dreary day here in Okmulgee today. I'd call that a great stay at home and stitch day! Yea. Have a great one.

SBEBB Autumn House Exchanges

While I was on vacation I read that Leena received my Autumn House Exchange. I tried a new pillow finish for me that I've noticed on other blogs, so thought I'd give it a try. Leena assures me she likes it. I know I enjoyed putting it together and will try this finish again.

The exchange piece is the top portion of LHN's Autumn Harvest. I also included some fibers, a chart from her wish list, fall ribbon and buttons, and a small button container.

I also received my Autumn exchange from Julianne. ( See her blog for great photos of the back. )When I saw the return address, I immediately thought she had sent the SEBB winter exchange and that I was behind! I never thought about the Autumn exchange. She really out did herself and I love the design and finish. She also included some opalescent fabric, finishing fabric, candy (long gone), and some fabulous tea that I love. Thank you so much Julianne.

HoE Halloween received by Edda

Edda has received the SB needleroll I sent her for the HoE halloween exchange. I must have failed to take photos before I sent, so am posting Edda's. I also have a photo of the design before I put it together. I loved the little spiders on this piece. They were so much fun to do. I have to say, this was a hard finish to let go! The tobacco colored fabric was nice to work on. I must get me some for my stash. Well, there's always tomorrow. Have a great week.

Belated birthday gift

I finally got around to putting the finishing touches on my sister's birthday tree. It's only 6 months since her bd. Since we're taking a little trip with each other tomorrow, I thought I should get it done. My mother, two sisters, BIL, and great nephew are all going on this trip. I wonder what we will do? As of this evening we are going into Missouri and Arkansas for scenery and shopping. I hope to get to go to at least one stitch shop, however, I'm the only stitcher in the group, I'll most likely get out voted. Any way, I'll be away for a week or so. Hope everyone has a great week.

A small finish for me

Good Wednesday morning. It's bright and cool here in Okmulgee. I received a small kit from Bridgette in my HoE Needleroll exchange. Between exchange stitching I decided to work it up. Here it is. I changed the pansies from yellow to purple since I love purple pansies. Haven't decided how I'm going to finish it just yet. It will probably be a pinkeep, however, I'm open for suggestions. Hope every one has a glorious day. I'm going to finish my mattress cushion exchange piece.
