Humbugs

I thought I'd try my hand at putting together a couple of humbug ornaments.  The design I chose if from the 2010 December issue of The Gift of Stitching.  When I started the project, I thought I wasn't going to like them, but, they rank right up there with my love of biscornu stitching.  So, here's my foray into the world of humbugs.  The ornaments are for my great-nieces that live in Kansas.  If I can get my self in gear, I might make it to the PO to mail them tomorrow.  If not, then I'll have to wait until Monday.  Either way, I'm sending them to their Nana's house so they will have them on Christmas.  I stitched them with good ole DMC in their favorite colors.  So, here they are:

Well, my friend It's Daffycat has done it again.  She's gifted us with another reindeer freebie.  I have already printed it off and hope to stitch it this weekend for my great-nephew.  I stitched Daffy's first reindeer for him last year.  I'm also working on another of the humbugs for my youngest great-niece.  They are such fun.

Guess I'll go stitch some more.

FTT Love of Needlework received by Ronel

Ronel of Paisley Designs has received her Friends Through Threads exchange. I stitched her an Etui from The Gift of Stitching magazine using an over dyed thread with her favorite colors in it. This was such a fun stitch. I enjoyed it so much and happy to hear that Ronel liked it. Hop over to her blog, she has a really great collage of the stitched piece. Also included in the exchange package was some fabric, a pattern from her wish list, and notepad. It was hard to put this one into the mail.
I spent the day doing odd jobs. Ran to the post office and dropped off two exchange packages, began packing for my Cape Cod trip, took a nap, and straighted up the house a little. Of course football was on the tv also. My friend Lynn of OK Stitches That Count, stopped by for a long visit. We don't see each other much during the school year. So the visit was alot of fun for me. My other friend Karen, has moved. I already miss her telephone calls!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. I'm now on a mission. I've misplaced my stitching glasses and that is indeed a dilemma for me!

Exchanges stitched by me, and a little extra

Here's what I stitched for Bev for Round 1 of the Lizzie Kate Exchange group. She assures me she likes it. What can I say? I love it and knew I would, so it's kitted up, ready for me to stitch.
Sally also received my HoE Summer house exchange. I stitched the summer square from the "Four Seasons" by Prairie Schooler. In an earlier exchange I received the fall square, so thought I'd stitch a season for Sally. The designs can be found in the February 2008 issue of The Gift of Stitching. Here's my latest gadget purchase. It's called Rolaframe. These are the first frames I have had that I can actually get the fabric situated on the frame straight. (Remember, I'm somewhat challenged in this area!) Nicole first alerted her blog readers to them. Amy at Down Sunshine Lane carries them. They are very inexpensive and not very heavy. The garters are mine and not included. That's about it for me. No doubt I'll be stitching this weekend on exchange pieces. It's just a few days from the beginning of football season. Yea.
