Nothing to show Wednesday

Seems as if most of my stitching is for exchanges. I don't mind because I really need deadlines in my life. I sent off my SBEBB Needleroll exchange yesterday, have my SEBB Autumn ready to go tomorrow, and have just about finished my HoE Prairie Schooler exchange.

Last Saturday my foot rammed into an immovable object, so I've been hobbling around this week. Today has been the worst for pain. Luckily, I have just a small fracture, but the impact has left a very sore foot with some pretty purple (my favorite color no less) bruising. Hope it is much better by Sept. 17th as I have a day trip planned with the 55 and over group with a local bank. It's a mystery bus trip. I'm pretty sure I've guess the general location, just not the specific sites.

Saturday is the local Humane Society's Adoption Day and Bake Sale at the lake. I sure hope it's not too warm, but warm enough to bring out a crowd to eat hot dogs and adopt some of our animals.

Freebie exchange received by Jayne N.

I heard today that Jayne N. (no blog) received the replacement Freebie exchange I sent her. That poor little pinkeep is well traveled. I sent it to France. It went missing so I stitched and sent a replacent exchange. Then low and behold, a couple of weeks ago the exchange shows up in my mailbox with the orginal address scratched through. Just couldn't let a good exchange go to "waste", so offered it Jayne in York who hadn't received hers. It looks a little worse for wear, but she assures me she likes it. I've been stitching on my HoE Needleroll. I am going to have a really hard time of sending this one. It's turning out so pretty. Ok, ok, I'll send it to my partner! I can't believe some have already sent theirs. They must be super high stitching achievers. I've tried to be a swift stitcher, but the old hand/eyes don't coordinate that well. Have a great evening. Biscornu received by Cathy

Cathy of No Sampler Left Behind sent word that she received my SBEBB biscornu exchange. I believe these little works of art are so much fun to do. I stitched Anita's Little Stitches, Mini Quaker Flowers using the supplied thread. Let me tell you, I had a time of it with that covered button. After I demolished the bottom of the form, I improvised and glued it heavily. I cautioned Cathy that it was "delicate." I also included some goodies, a threadwinder, pins, and thread and a LHN chart off her wish list. I didn't get a photo of it with the goodies though.

Summer Quaker received by Nic W.

I just read on the HoE site that Nic W. has received her Summer Quaker from me. I stitched her a floss tag over one using an overdyed #12 perle cotton. The effect of using the perle was interesting. Nic says she likes it, and I'm very happy she does. These little floss tags are so much fun to do. Here's a photo of the entire exchange. One note, there's a one brownish stitch that causes the design to look a little askew. It's not a mistake and I should have redone that row. Sometimes I'm a lazy stitcher, what can I say. I also include some really summery looking spring clips, a LHN chart, some super strong magnets and three strands of DMC floss in colors you always need.

WIP update a year later

It's been over a year since I've worked on this BBDs piece. Since I permanently displaced my stitching glasses, I picked up this piece to work on. It's 28ct over two. I can manage stitching with my reading glasses and some Daylight helpers.

Two years ago I had laser surgery to correct my nearsightedness. Since then I haven't been able to stitch for long periods of time because my eyes get tired. So, waiting on a replacement pair of stitcher specs, I'm working on this piece. I hope to get my replacements soon because I have some exchange pieces to stitch.

Here's the threads and fabric I have ready to work with when I'm able. The fabric is Potato Lugana and the thread is Threadworx Cherry.

I finally got my computer back from the shop, minus the virus. I've had it since 2002. It still works for me, so I nurse it along. Needless to say, I make sure the virus protection is really working.

HoE Summer Quaker received

I had a nice surprise waiting on my doorstep yesterday. The postman delivered my HoE Summer Quaker exchange from Paula C. I absolutely love every stitch, the colors, and the teenie scissors and teenie fob. Teenies are a real favorite of mine. They are some of my most fun pieces to stitch and finish. Paula writes that the HoE SQ is her first tin finish. It it perfect! She did a fantastic job. Her stitching is exquisite also. She included some wonderful goodies also, a pen, magnetic notepad, post-its, and some "smell-um" from B&BW. Thank you so much, Paula. I love it all.
