Marie P. notified me that she received her Tin Topper exchange from me. I had a wonderful time putting it together for her. I've posted a couple of pictures of what I sent. The patterns are taken from a Hillsides Samplings I've been meaning to do for myself.

Away
No progress to show for now. I'm still stitchin' away on Peace on Earth. I got my very first exchange piece sent. It was exciting to get to send a package on to a fellow stitcher.
I'm house sitting for friends for a couple of weeks, so I have bits of pieces of myself in both homes. I come into town to check on Tobie, do my Humane Society, work, and then back to the country.
It's hard for me to stitch in a home other than my own. I don't have my chair, my good light, all my stash...
Gotta run. Later.

Making progress
Yesterday was a good day. I woke up early to the sounds of a thunderstorm in progress. Watched my recording of Monk and somehow missed getting Psych recorded. Then had a good stitching day. I made some progress on the Peace on Earth piece. The evening stitch session was so good because I listened to/watched a college football game and then switched over to watch Peyton Manning and the Colts in a pre-season game. Saturday Oklahoma State plays Georgia, the Humane Society has an adoption day/bake sale at the lake, and I'll be listening to the first games of the season on a Walkman. Walkman? Yes, I'm a lot behind in the technology department.
I have my Tin Topper Exchange all ready to mail on Tuesday. Monday I'm going to my former school for the day to help out in the computer lab. It will be fun to see the children again.

Lazy Week
It's been a lazy stitching week for me. Not much motivation. That's not really good because here it is almost the end of August. Where oh where does the time go?
I did manage to get a few stitches in on my current project. ( The scan is not all that great.) I'm so anal that I can just work on one project at a time. What's the secret of setting up a rotation? I do not see how many of you manage to stitch on multiple projects. I believe it has to do with an incredibly organized mind, of which I do not possess!
Yesterday was a good day at the Humane Society. We had three adoptions, two dogs and one cat. It was sad too because a couple came in for one of our featured dogs that had been put down the day before. Our Society is a volunteer organization that works out of the City animal shelter. We do our best to get the dogs and cats adopted or into foster care before their time is up. Unfortunately we are not always successful.
I changed my on screen identity to Becky K in OK. I ran across another Becky K so that's the reason.

WIP
Greetings. I don't usually post WIP's. However, since I haven't done very much of anything this week, I thought I'd share one with you. It's a Mill Hill kit, takes very little thought, and works up quickly. I did this last evening. As I've said before, I am a rather slow stitcher. I believe I managed to make a little progress. Sometimes I don't want to have to think about fabric, fibers, or patterns, so I'll work on a kit...I have so many!
The Humane Society shelter was very slow today. Not one animal was adopted. We have a beautiful chocolate lab that is an owner give up. What a shame, because the dog is supposed to be registered and everything. So far we haven't seen the papers though. One of our cats, Tess, keeps us entertained. She is black and has a beautifully shaped head.
I have my Tin Topper exchange all ready to box up and send. I didn't rush finishing it because I wanted to do a good job. Unfortunately, glue and I just do not mix. I do not have good luck gluing. I believe the project turned out pretty, and I hope my exchange partner likes it.
Time for me to get some sleep, as it was elusive last night.

Found It.
Some say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, this is a yipee picture. I found my Ornament Notebook. Where was it you ask? I'm ashamed to say it was right in front of my eyes on my finishing table. I had cleverly camouflaged it with a basket on top though. Now I can get down to serious business. I was so excited to share the news with you I had to re-boot the computer and sign on.

Christmas Ornament
I finally finished one of my Christmas ornaments. It's a Lilybet design called Joy. I saw the pattern on a blog and immediately fell in love with the tree on it. Decided this would be one of my ornaments for this year. I stitched my initials and the year with the border for the back. I've done the stitching on several. Some I stitched the star instead of using a button, on some I stitched the snow flakes, and on others I used beads for the snow flakes.
I spent some time at the Humane Society today. We adopted one lone little kitten, named Cherub. The young lady who adopted her was thrilled. So were we because it had been a really slow day!. Enjoy your weekend.
The ornament notebook is still elusive since I didn't search for it today. Perhaps first thing in the morning while it's still relatively cool.

Any Idea?
Well, now I've temporarily misplaced the notebook I have all the Just Cross-Stitch ornament issues filed. Any idea where it might be? HeHe. There's a cat ornament that I wanted to stitch for some of the volunteers at the Humane Society. I mean, there's only five rooms in this duplex, so the notebook can't be far. It's not in the ROOM, because the clutter in there has been moved this week. So, it must be in the bedroom. Hope I find it soon. Time is getting away from me.
Tonight I finished a small scissor fob, but can't show it because it's part of an exchange. I also started the finishing on the tin topper, but it's just not centered right. Guess I'm too tired as it's nearing my bedtime. I'm one of those early to bed, early to rise kind of people. After nine o'clock I'm pretty much useless.
Went to the Humane Society for a couple of hours and then to Weight Watchers. My friend Lynn and I try so hard to stay on program. Both of us have reached goal in the past. The school year took it's toll on both of us both mentally and physically. She's going back for another year, I retired again.
Guess it's time to let Tobie in and hit the sack. Hope to have a small ornament to share tomorrow.

Another Hot One
I just put the last stitch in my tin topper exchange piece. Now I have to finish it. That's an early morning project while it's still relatively cool.
Did some more volunteer hours in the Humane Society shelter today. No one adopted any of our dear dogs or cats. Guess it is too hot for adoptions too. One gentleman (?) did try to get us to take a diseased dog off his hands. We had to decline knowing full well the fate of the dog.
I spent the good part of an hour searching for my Elan frame in the ROOM. The room's neater, but no Elan. My friend Karen called on the telephone while I was searching. As soon as I sat down and answered the phone I remembered where it was. Right next to my stitching chair in the living room. Too much "stuff" and not enough room. Oh, one of these days.

Shelter Day
A little stitching this evening. It's almost too hot to do anything. Today I worked the Humane Society shelter. The sweetest little pomeranian mix came in. She had all the volunteers and customers eating out of her hand by the end of the day. I adopted my cat, Tobie, from the shelter. I've posted a picture and tried to crop all the clutter out of it. He seldom sits still long enough for me to get a decent shot. All of our animals are posted at Petfinder if you'd like to take a look. www.okmulgee.petfinder.com My stitching is calling from the other room. I must answer!

Spring Fling
Here's my latest framed piece, a Loose Feather's design, called Spring Fling. I think it turned out quite nice.
The PGA traffic was not too bad where the Stitchworks is. The heat however, was another story. I wanted to get in and out of Tulsa before it got too warm, but didn't succeed on that count. I made it to Hobby Lobby to get some finishing supplies. I bought some items I didn't need, but wanted. I also picked up a Milady's Needle chart, Quaker's Rule since I don't have many Quaker themed patterns.
I believe I'll try and take another picture tomorrow when I have better light. Update: I was not successful in getting a better picture.

Still stitchin'
I've been busy stitching and no finishing to speak of. Monday I am going to Tulsa to get a framed piece that is ready. I'll post pictures when I get back. Am also planning on stopping by Hobby Lobby on my way out of Tulsa to find some finishing stash. Our Wal-Mart here has cut way back on their craft items so it is hard to find suitable supplies.
If it warm in your neck of the woods, stay cool. If it's cold, stay warm!
