A little stitching

I did manage to get my HoE Christmas in July exchange in the mail...a day before the deadline. A plague of frogs attacked my piece. I bet I stitched it three times before I finally got it finished! Soon as my partner receives her package I'll post photos.

In the mean time, I have been doing a little stitching for myself. Since I love patriotic themes, I chose Shepherd's Bush "Land That I Love. It's an easy stitch, so not too many frogs have visited.

Here's a photo of my stitching progress. I normally stitch with piece in hand but sometimes the old left hand hurts, so I'm using one of great German made wooden hoops. I'm half way through the design.

The weather is still hot in OK. I stay inside as much as possible. This afternoon I needed to make a Wal-Mart run for my mother. I thought there wouldn't be many shoppers there, since tomorrow is the 1st. Needless to say, I was wrong, wrong.

Stay cool.

FTT Exchange from Joan S.

Monday the mailman brought a fantastic exchange. A group of USA stitchers participated in a patriotic exchange. My partner was Joan S. She stitched a wonderful fob and included one of her famous mesh stitching bags. I was fortunate to be her partner in a previous exchange. One of her goodies was one of her bags. Oh how I enjoy using that bag. I know I'm going to enjoy this one as much. She also included some note cards and to-do-lists, buttons, fabric, ribbon, and chart. Thank you so much Joan. I love it all.

We are definitely in the throws of summer. It's hot here in OK. I'm trying to stay cool, however, it is difficult.
Stay cool!!

FTT Patriotic Exchange received by Vonna

I had an e-mail from Vonna that she received the FTT patriotic exchange I did for her. I stitched the biscornu and scissor fob from Anita's Little Stitches Patriotic collection. V said she loves it, so I'm happy. The exchange also included some napkins and some patriotic clips for her 4th of July picnic, some red, white & blue buttons and ribbon, and a book mark with Mt. Rushmore on it. I'm a big fan of patriotic themed items, so this exchange was great fun for me to participate in.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday evening and Sunday.

A few snapshots from my Mt. Rushmore trip

I'm beginning to believe my web album is not going to get completed, so thought I'd include a few of my favorite shots from my trip: Badlands formation, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse. Not a fave, but including one of me with Mt. Rush. in the background and an Irish Wolfhound from Deadwood.

I know there's a trick to getting photos to look good in Blogger. If anyone knows of one or two please leave me a comment on how!
I'll post more photos later.

With the heat we're having here in OK, I'm wishing I was back in SD. One evening a record low temperature was set for the day. Oh did I enjoy the cool weather. I do not do well in this OK heat!

Hope everyone can stay cool today.

It's been a while

It's been a while since I last posted. On May 31st I boarded a motor coach for a trip to Mt. Rushmore. It was a fantastic trip but it left me pooped out. I've been home a week now and still suffering from some of the side effects! It's takes this ole body a while to repair. I'll post some of my photos in a separate entry.

While I was on the trip I read where Wendy received the round two YLPS exchange piece. I stitched one of the Old World Santa's for her. I did a simple pillow finish 'cause I really like doing them.
I found it difficult to concentrate on stitching while on the trip. I took a large count project to work on while in the motel. Must have been too tired, because I made lots of mistakes, so I packed it away.

Have a great Monday.
