Catching Up

TIPSY TREE

I've commented several times that one of my favorite designs this year is the Charland "Tipsy Tree." My last finish of 2007 was exactly that design. I tried something new for me, beading around the edge. I think it turned out very pretty. My photo isn't that great, but in person it is so cute. But, alas, it was stitched as a gift, so it's not mine! WINTER
I also started an Elizabeth's Designs piece, "Winter Stitching Club." I enjoy stitching her designs. I have the whole series, finishing Autumn sometime ago.

HAPPY STASH

My friend, Lynn, and I have a NYE tradition of getting up early, driving to Tulsa, then shopping the big sale at The Silver Needle. We arrived about 6:05 a.m. and shopped, shopped, shopped. What fun it is to fill those baskets and get those discounts. After close to two hours, we checked out and headed to get some breakfast. (Who doesn't need sustenance after all that?!) Then to Hobby Lobby for more stash. Like I needed more. Then we headed back to the Silver Needle for shopping for another round. I believe we had a really good morning. Both of us had two large bags stuffed full of stitching goodies. Here's a portion of my stash.I still have openings for five PIF stitchers. To fulfill my part of the PIF, I will randomly choose five stitchers to send stitched pieces to if I have no participants.

Have a great week. I head to the Humane Society tomorrow morning.

A little Santa

Wednesday greetings to one and all. I've been a lazy stitcher this week, not motivated at all to do much of anything. The one lone finish I have is The Just Nan Silver Needle Santa. I changed the date from 2005 to 2007. I also completed stitching on a practice tin topper for my exchange partner. Since I've not done a finishing on one in quite a while, I thought a practice piece would be a good idea. I'll finish the tin tomorrow morning when I'm not so tired.
Then to add to my laziness, my right hand (stitching hand)is bothering me. It's a complication due to my diabetes, my own diagnosis of course. Sometimes those little 28 petites are hard to hold.
The new camera and I are still in the learning stages. One day it will be mastered!
Hope you're have a productive stitch week.

Cross-Stitch shopping

My friend Lynn and I went shopping at our two favorite LNSs yesterday in Tulsa. We started with The Siver Needle. Lindy had three trunk shows going at one time, Carriage House Samplings, Jenette Douglas Designs, and Teresa Layman Designs. I enjoyed looking at each and every one of the pieces on display. While the TLDs were gorgeous, I'm not ready to tackle all of those teeny french knots.

From the SNN we drove across the street, yes, I said across the street, to The Stitchworks. Can you believe two great LNSs in the same town and in such close proximity? I took my Loose Feathers design, Spring Fling, in to be framed. I can't wait to see the finished product. I will post as soon as I get it back.

By then it was lunch time. We headed to our favorite Mexican restaurant and enjoyed every bite. Then we met Lynn's husband, GW. They went to a wood turning show and I went to Wild Oats.

All in all it was a good day. Lynn and I always enjoy our needlework shopping. I can't believe it, but I had no additions to my stash. I'll have to make up for it next trip!
