Valentines Day Monday

I hope everyone had a glorious VDay. My friend Lynn and I went to visit Mary Ann in Idabel. We had a great time visiting, eating and overall loafing. Mary Ann has a wonderful gift shop. We always lighten her inventory when we visit. I stitched floss tags for each of them for their VDay gifts. Here's a photo of them.
The were fun to do. I enjoyed stitching and giving them to the girls. The chart is from the Caron Collection. I decided to do a flat floss tag, rather than the one pictured. Call me lazy!
Hope everyone has a great week. I'm preparing for my bus trip to Cajun Mardi Gras later in the week. I can hardly wait. Sure hope it's a fun trip.

Becky,

Love the floss rings. I have got to try to do some of those myself.

This may seem like a technicality to most, but Shreveport, LA is not the Cajun part of LA. If you call the people there Cajuns, they won't appreciate it very much. They are really more Texans than Louisianians. The real Cajuns are about 3 hours south of Shreveport. I grew up in Shreveport and up until the 1970's Mardi Gras was basically something that happened in New Orleans. There is a pretty distinct cultural line that goes across the middle of the state horizontally. Things have changed a great deal and there are now Mardi Gras celebrations all across the state. I am lucky enough to live in the best Mardi Gras place - New Orleans. And don't let people tell you that New Orleans Mardi Gras is just about people getting drunk and stripping on Bourbon Street. That is the news media version of Mardi Gras. For those of us who actually live here, Mardi Gras is meeting friends and family in basically the same parade spots year after year, having picnics and catching throws, so we can throw them right back when we ride in our own parades. I hope you have a marvelous trip and catch some great beads for souvenirs.
Oh, and you want to yell at the float riders - "Throw me something, Mister!"

Sally, I definitely know the Cajun culture. I dated one for a while. I've visited their home, ate the wonderful food, attended their festivals, etc. The Cajun Mardi Gras is just how it was marketed to us. Just wanted you to know that I do know the difference! My friend and I are looking for de beads!!!
