HoE Blackbird Designs Exchange for Lisa S.

Lisa e-mailed me to say she had received her exchange piece for the HoE Blackbird Designs ornament round.  She says she likes it and I'm happy that she does.  I chose House on Holly Hill from the book Peppermint and Holly.  It's stitched on 28ct Vintage Smoky White Cashel.  I used a combination of WDW and DMC threads. I am pleased with how it turned out.  So, here it is....

HoE exchanges and a birthday gift

I stitched this ornament for Janet
on the HoE Christmas bird exchange.  It's from a JCS ornament issue and the title is Twitter Blue.  I changed the color to green and used a skein of floss I had in my stash.  I do not know the name of it.  Somehow it, along with my JCS issue got lost in the house!  I stitched it on a 28ct opalescent linen.  I really like this design and have stitched it many times.  I finished the ornament after my Alaska trip and must admit, my heart wasn't in it.  Hopefully Janet will excuse my lazy effort at finishing. 

 Lisa S was my stitching partner for the HoE Christmas bird exchange.  This is what she stitched for me.  The description she included has also gone missing.  I do remember that she switched out the white fiber called for and that I believe it is a LHN design from a JCS issue. I am very certain that I love the ornament.  Lisa and I have been partners many times.  I always know I'm getting a great stitched piece when I see her name on the return address.




 Last month was my stitchin' bud, bestest friend, sorority sister, Lynn's 
birthday.  I decided to stitch the freebie, Sister Stitcher for her from The Primitive Hare.  I trimmed it in chenille.  It was my first time using this trim and find it very forgiving.  I love using it.  I believe Lynn was happy with the giftie.

I've been stitching on my HoE Blackbird Designs ornament.  I put the last stitch in tonight and will try and get it mailed tomorrow.  I don't want to be late with this exchange.  I love the way it turned out and hope my partner does too.

HoE Christmas Bird from Lisa S.

Whee, it's been so long since I posted that Blogger has a whole new look!  I'm having to learn how to use it all over.

Yesterday the mailman brought my HoE Christmas bird exchange piece.  It is from my ole stitchin' pal Lisa.  We've exchanged many pieces over the years.  She decided to change designers on me.  Usually she stitches a Prairie Schooler, but this time she chose LHN's Quaker Birds.  "She did good", as we say here in Oklahoma.  I love the trim on it.  Thanks Lisa!!
I've been in such a funk since my trip, that I've just put the finishing touches on my exchange piece.  It will go in the mail tomorrow.

Hoe Santa Exchange from Lisa

The postman was very nice to me today. He delivered my HoE Santa Exchange from my partner Lisa S. Now, Lisa and I have exchanged several pieces over the years, so we know each other's likes and dislikes. She did a bang up job on this exchange by choosing a Prairie Schooler design for me. It's one of their older freebies, and you know, I do not believe I have this one in my design stash. I have it hanging by the light switch in the hallway so I see it first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Thanks so much Lisa, you know I absolutely love it.

 Above is the Hoe Scissor Fob I stitched for Lisa S. She and I have exchanged stitched pieces in several exchanges.  Since I totally forgot to take a snap of what I sent. I've borrowed Lisa's photos.  She says she likes it, and the Heath Bars. I sent more, but temptation got the best of her!  Can't blame her for that...they happen to be one of my favorites too.

Here's the fob I recieved in the exchange also. It's from Newfoundland's Deanne.  We've exchanged a few times too in HoE. You may or may not remember, but I love the small finishes.  Deanne couldn't have picked a better choice for me.  She included lots of goodies too.  Just look at that purple effects thread from DMC.  She included a notepad and some candy too.  Thanks so much Deanne.  Your fob is on my scissors as I type!

Prairie Schooler Exchange received

Goodness gracious, it has been a long time.  Along the way I lost all my desire to stitch.  When the HoE Prairie Schooler exchange came along, I caved and joined.  My partner has not received her exchange yet, but I can show you what I received from Lisa S. The design is taken from the leaflet Acorns, stitched on 28ct antique white evenweave using DMC threads.  I love it because the finishing is so unique.  Thank you Lisa, I can't wait until fall!

I received this little beauty from Lisa S. for the HoE Early Christmas Ornament Exchange. Isn't is just wonderful. It looks like my Tobiecat keeping an eyeful watch on the birds outside. I just love it. Thank you so much Lisa. We have exchanged stitching two times now. I told Lisa she could stitch for me anytime!

HoE Winter House Received by Lisa S.

I heard from Lisa S. my HoE Winter House exchange arrived in her mail box. Poor Lisa, this is the second exchange she has received from me this year. The design is from Lizzie Kate. I used 28ct Winter Wind opalescent Lugana as the fabric and the recommended threads. For the finishing I backstitched around the edge and whipstitched the backing fabric on to the design. This method takes a little longer to finish, however, I love hand finishing my projects. Many thanks to Lennu for suggesting this method. I love it and will use it quite often. Here's a snap of the backing fabric.
Today I meet Diane at the Y for Silver Sneakers, finish an exchange piece, and start a new one. Who could ask for a better day? Enjoy yours!

Lizzie Kate Round 3 exchange received

I received this little pinkeep in the mail today. It is from Lisa S. Aren't those little heart pins and bee buttons just too cute? I wasn't expecting a package today, so it was a very pleasant surprise. Thank you so much Lisa. I love it, and have it displayed on my sideboard. I'm still a bit concerned that my round 3 has not arrived at my partner's mailbox. I mailed it priority two weeks ago. Hopefully it will turn up soon.

I've been stitching on Beehives Needleworks Cranberry Reindeer pinkeep. It is almost completely stitched. I'll finish it and LHN's Pear Tree this weekend. It's supposed to be a cozy one, so I won't mind staying in. Enjoy yours.
