January Christmas Challenge Ornament

I joined the 2009 Christmas Challenge this year. My theme I chose for the challenge is deer/reindeer. So at the end of the year I should have 12 ornaments. Here's my first. It is the freebie offered by It's Daffycat. I love this little reindeer and hope to stitch it again before the year is over.
Today was a stay in day since our part of OK is covered in ice. Hopefully we will keep our power here. Some parts of the state are without it.

Here's a close-up of a limb outside my back door. It was taken early this morning. Tonight it is much heavier with ice. What fun.
I also finished the SBEBB Frosty Friends exchange piece today. I must say, it turned out really great. I want it for myself! Hopefully I'll get it in the mail before deadline Saturday. If the streets are clear, I'll be able to make it to the Post Office.

SBEBB BlackBird Designs for Hazel

I heard from Hazel that she received the BBD's exchange piece I stitched for her. Goodies were also sent, but guess I forgot to get a photo. I included a Kelmscott needleminder, some lotion, and pins. Hazel has a great photo of the entire exchange on her blog. The stitched piece is a portion of Pins and Tulips from Thank You Sarah Tobias. I made a small change by stitching the initials of our first names in a different color floss.

Finally after all these years of stitching and finishing, I believe I am getting the hang of doing a pillow finish. Hazel said she couldn't see where I stuffed it. (Hint, I stuffed from the top.)

I've been busy stitching on the HoE Valentine Exchange. The stitching is complete. I'm pushing the wire on this exchange. I'll have it in the mail tomorrow. Today I took my mom's van to be serviced in Tulsa. While I was waiting I finished one of The Sampler Girl's charts. Right now the name escapes me, but i know it has the words Thanksgiving and Plimoth in it. I plan to finish it into a pillow so will post a photo when I do.

Enjoy your evening.

SBEBB Winter House exchange

I heard from Edgar that he received my exchange to him. I stitched a Prairie Schooler design that had colors in it that thought he would like. It was a great chart to stitch. My finish of choice is the small pillow that can be tucked any where. The fibers were the called for DMC colors and the fabrice is a 32ct antique ivory. The exchange also included a chart from his wish list "Acorns and Apples", gold John Jame petite needles and some highliter strips.

The mail brought my package all the way from Western Australia. Lisa VV stitched a portion of LHN's Snowflakes and made it into a flatfold. This is my first ff. I have made them before, but not received one. She also included some great goodies too. Thank you so much Lisa.

I also mailed my BBD's exchange this morning.

SBEBB ABC exchange received

I received this absolutely gorgeous biscornu from Helen today. Biscornus are favorites of mine. This one is somewhat bittersweet because it is one of the last stitched pieces I'll receive from the SBEBB as BeckySC has made the difficult decision to close the exchange board. Notice that the alphabet is stitched over one along the outside of the biscornu. Don't you just love the tassels? I tried my best to get them to behave for the photo to no avail. I love them any way. Thank you so much Helen. It's a fantastic exchange.

Sarah Tobias for Carol S.

I heard from Carol S. that she received the SBEBB ABC exchange ( a no goody exchange this time) I stitched for her. It is the Sarah's ABC Pincushion from The BBD's book Thank You, Sarah Tobias. I used the recommended fiber, Autumn Twilight Silk, by Thread Gatherer. It was stitched on 32ct. antique ivory fabric. It was such a great stitch, that I'm planning on doing it again real soon, like next week.

No more photos to show. I'm stitching on an exchange piece right now, and it is going very slow.

Here's a photo of Sarah's ABC pincushion:Here's wishing all my readers and new found stitching friends a very Happy New Year and lots of great stitching!
